Yes, you can customize the PDF file names. Additionally, you have the option to use Microsoft PowerShell for even more naming flexibility. Learn more here.

Yes, you can. Simply expand the Advanced Options in step 3, where you’ll find a checkbox to enable the read-only setting for the output PDF forms.

The numerical order of PDF form fields depends on the order in which they were originally created, not their layout on the page. This can make data mapping more challenging. To resolve this, you can:

  1. Rebuild the PDF form to set a new field order.

  2. Adjust your Excel columns to align with the existing field order.

  3. Use Excel formulas for automated mapping — watch here.

  4. Take advantage of the Custom Data Mapping feature — learn more.

To accelerate the process—especially when working with hundreds or thousands of PDFs—consider using the Excel web version via office.com on Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. Power PDF Filler generally performs more efficiently in the web version of Excel.

This problem usually happens when using an outdated version of Microsoft Excel. To fix it, we suggest updating to the latest Microsoft 365 version, compatible with both Windows and macOS. Alternatively, you can use Microsoft Excel online through modern browsers like Edge or Chrome to access the add-in smoothly.
